Prices of imported farm products declined last month, despite worries that recent extreme weather conditions in major farmland areas would cause price hikes. According to the Korea Customs Service, the price index of imported agricultural, livestock and fishery products stood at 114.2 in August, down 4.2 percent from a year earlier.

Recent typhoons have raised concerns of possible spiking produce prices later this month. The government has promised to expand supplies of cabbages, radishes, apples, beef, and meats by about 50 percent in the coming weeks to stabilize their prices.(tbs)
